Brian McCaffrey, a founding member of Leffler Marcus & McCaffrey, is a seasoned trial attorney with over 20 years of trial experience. He has selected over 400 juries in New York City and tried over 65 cases to verdict. Mr. McCaffrey has developed a reputation as a skilled trial attorney in the professional liability arena. He has successfully defended physicians, surgeons, dentists, nurses and nursing homes, before juries in the New York Metropolitan Area. His trial experience includes defending corporate clients and management in employment, labor law, toxic torts and product liability cases, including the successful defense of an insurer in a toxic tort coverage case with more than $3 billion in exposure and 240 defendants. He is often selected as counsel of choice by architects and engineers in their professional liability claims. Likewise, he frequently advises and defends landlords, managing agents, and construction companies when they are faced with lead paint, mold exposure, and construction accident suits. Over the last twenty years, Mr. McCaffrey has successfully represented insureds on behalf of companies such as: AIG, Fireman’s Fund, Frontier, Royal Sun Alliance, The New York State Liquidation Bureau and One Beacon insurance companies. Mr. McCaffrey received his Juris Doctorate from the John Marshall School of Law in 1982 and his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Notre Dame in 1975. He served as an officer in the United States Navy from 1975 to 1979. In addition to his duties as a Surface Warfare Officer he also served as his ship’s Legal Officer. Mr. McCaffrey is admitted to practice in New York State and Illinois, the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York and the Northern District of Illinois and the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. He is a member of the New York State Trial Lawyers Association, the New York City Bar Association, The Brooklyn Bar Association, The Bronx County Bar Association, and the Nassau and Suffolk Bar Associations. He is President of the Irish American Bar Association of New York. He is a frequent lecturer on the subjects of trial practice, toxic tort, and professional liability defense issues. |
